What is Stephen Ministry?

  •  a groupe of volunteers, who are trained to help via listening to a care-receiver.

Where did the name Stephen Ministry come from?

  • This ministry is named after Saint Stephen, the first martyr.

Are Stephen Minsters trying to fix my problems? 

  •  no, we are not Problem Solvers, we are here to listen.  We have faced many of lifes challenges, and we may be able to help by offering resources available within Springfield area.

Is Stephen Ministry is Free?

  • yes, always.

Is Stephen Ministry Confidential?

  • yes.

What is a Care Receiver?

  • a person who is being helped by a Stephen Minster

What is a Care Giver?

  • a person helping another, for this ministry we see the Stephen Minister as the Care Giver.

When to meet?

  • a Stephen Minister commits to meeting one hour per week.

Where to meet?

  • this can be coordinated between the Care Receiver and the Care Giver, but we encourage face-to-face meetings in an atmosphere that promotes open communication.
